Code of Conduct & Fair Play

This Code of Conduct sets out the standards of ethical behaviour expected of all players, coaches, referees, officials and parents under the jurisdiction of the Azerbaijan Tennis Federation (ATF).

General principles

Tennis is a game built on respect, honesty and sportsmanship. Every participant must protect the reputation of the game and set an example for others.

Player conduct

On and off the court, players must follow these rules:

• Treat opponents, officials and spectators with respect.
• Obey the rules of the game and the decisions of the official.
• Refrain from swearing, insults and aggressive behaviour.
• Take care of equipment and sports facilities.

Fair Play

Fair play is not only following the rules, but also staying true to the spirit of the sport.

• Call the ball honestly.
• Accept victory with modesty and defeat with dignity.
• Stop play and offer help if an opponent is injured.

Coaches, parents and officials

Coaches and parents must be a positive example for young players and avoid excessive pressure and negative behaviour. Officials must make their decisions impartially and professionally.

Prohibited conduct

• Use of doping and prohibited substances.
• Match manipulation and involvement in betting.
• Any form of discrimination, harassment and violence.

Sanctions

Violations of this Code are investigated by the relevant ATF bodies and may result in disciplinary measures ranging from a warning to disqualification.
